Putting on my ranty pants
Someone at at canon_sues made a report about a character called Malina. Now, this isn't what enraged me, but rather the canon she appears in: The Emperor's New School! That's right, Disney made one of my favorite movies into a TV series. And from what I've seen so far, a really sucky one.
The premise of the whole show is that Kuzco has to get his High School diploma at Kurzo Academy to officially become the new emperor, which he tries to do at all costs, including lying and cheating.
Since he isn't really the emperor yet, he is not allowed to live in the palace anymore and lives with Pacha and his family instead. Yzma is back too, posing as the principal Amzy and trying to make Kuzco fail at all cost. She also enrolled Kronk in the school to sabotage Kuzco's chances at getting his diploma. Malina is one of Kuzco's fellow classmates, a straight A+ student, cheerleader and a "hottie hot hottie" according to Kuzco.
There are so many things wrong with this.
1.) When has Kuzco been ever treated as anything but the real emperor? That's right, never. He already is the emperor, and that's that, no ifs, buts or ands about it, making the whole show superfluous.
2.) Lying and cheating? Wasn't the whole point of the first movie that Kuzco would mature and be a better person than that? And yes, the series clearly takes place afterward. So, basically they threw him back to square one.
3.) Not only is Yzma back, but Kronk is working for her too. And sorry, Kronk is dumb, but him not recognizing that Amzy and Yzma are the same person is just too stupid. And aren't he and Kuzco friends now? So why would he work against him?
4.) Less said about the Sue the better. Seriously, one of the things I liked so much about The Emperor's New Groove was that there was no romance in it.
5.) Watching the clips from the official site, it seems they're just going to re-use the same gags they used in the movie. Only, you know, not funny.
6.) High School? Oh God, it's one of those annoying High School AU fanfictions that plague all fandoms come to life.
