"Thank you for your concern, but I--"
"Barnaby." When the blond raised his head, Antonio flicked his eyes downward to his wrist, looking back to his face with a hint of a smile.
"No, you really do look ill. You should probably go straight home and…rest."
Barnaby's jaw dropped.
"I can't just--"
"Sure you can. Look at you. You're definitely flushed, shivering… I'm pretty sure you should take the evening off. Don't want you to get worse."
Barnaby was still dumbfounded when Antonio stood and turned to go back to the banquet hall. "You should probably head to Kotetsu's place. No sense in being sick on your own, and I'm sure he'd be happy to give you a hand. I'll let everyone in there know you're under the weather. Don't worry about it."
And with nothing more than a nod of his head, Antonio was gone, and Barnaby still hadn't moved.
The sudden thunder of applause from afar jolted him out of his stupor, and with a smile that his partner would have loved to see, he tapped his wristband.
Kotetsu was still naked on the other end, and Barnaby's mouth went dry. "Bunny?"
"Stay just like that, old man. I'll be home soon. And you owe me."
"Wait, what? Aren't you at--?"
Barnaby hung up.
