Even from the other side of the door, the voices were still very clear, and Edward had to mask a faint smile as he entered the Heroes' common area. Everyone was in their workout gear, and Blue Rose seemed to be enthusiastically punching a dummy to death. "Argh! Who does that ninja think he is?! I didn't even get to finish my catchphrase!" The dummy reeled back from another fierce punch. "For that, I had to listen to my sponsors tell me how to do my job."
"I think I should be the one most upset over this," Edward said, taking a seat on the couch with a faint sigh. He had to act cool about this, as impatient as he was for the secret to be over, as much as he hated how things were being prolonged. Almost cruelly. "That ninja's always photobombing me, and he took some of my points yesterday."
"Hmmm. More like rescuing you and getting points for it." Fire Emblem teased to which Edward merely rolled his eyes. "Who knew Sandy had such an aversion to water? You did give our mystery ninja a nice 100 point boost."

"OH! This half of the Heroes has cornered the final NEXT criminal at the docks! What will happen now?" The announcer's voice was clear in Edward's head as he tunneled his way back to the surface. The ground was saturated, harder, heavier from the nearby water source. Edward didn't like it here. Hero TV continued despite his unease. He was a Hero after all. "Where will the criminal run now? Look! He's still clutching on to that bag of jewels for dear life!"
"Make this easy on yourself and give up now!" Edward yelled as he reappeared behind the criminal. Then he cursed. He was supposed to be right behind the criminal, close enough to grab.
Edward was actually six feet away and on the dock itself. The damp concrete threw him off. The criminal spun around, glowing the familiar bright blue. "Get... GET AWAY FROM ME!!"
A sonic voice blast shot straight at Edward. His breath was knocked out of him, and tiny specks of light flittered through his vision. Stumbling backward in a daze, Edward didn't realize he had fallen until--
"Edward!" came a cry in a (secret) two way channel.
It woke him to a dark and distorted scene. He felt the bay around him, closing in and pulling him down to the watery depths. His NEXT powers were useless here, and the armor made him heavy. Water began seeping into the tiny gaps of his suit. Air left in bubbly masses. His heart pounded against his chest and in his ears. Edward kicked with all his might to reach the surface. His fingers peeked above water for a second before disappearing again under the waves. He felt his heart stop. He didn't want to go like this!
The next instant, a hand grabbed Edward's wrist and held on tight. Origami Cyclone strained to pull up the drenched Hero enough to hold on to part of the dock. Edward took care of the rest. Water poured out of his suit as he finally stood again, back to back with Origami Cyclone.
"Our mystery ninja has come once again!" The helicopter came around for a close up. "Just who is this hidden hero?"
"Thanks," Edward said over his shoulder.
"No need to thank this one, Hero. I was merely doing my duty." His (secret) partner said toward the cameras, knowing that Hero TV would catch this exchange.
Under his mask, Edward smirked at Ivan hamming it up for his Hero persona. Though the way Origami Cyclone's helmet tilted just so suggested relief from reaching him in time.
The criminal was on the run once more. A shimmering trail followed him as his bag of jewel leaked from shuriken sized holes. Blue Rose and Rock Bison busied themselves with creating barricades of ice and whatever they could find to trap the criminal to the area. No one risked getting too close to the criminal with the sonic voice again. Origami Cyclone brought his fingers up into a hand seal. "Shall we?"
"Thought you'd never ask." Edward glowed blue. In the sandstorm that followed, they had both disappeared from the criminal's view. When it died down, two Edwards stood on either side of the criminal in the exact same pose.

"Is it? Yes! It's the Desert Mirage!!" The announcer shouted as the criminal prepared to yell another sonic blast. But at which one? His head kept turning from one to the other. Which was the real one?!
"Oi! Quit naming our attacks!" were the echoed voices. They ran. A blue light enveloped both. One jumped, started to change shape, and grasped something on his back. One continued running and kicked up whirls of sand at his feet.
A glint of metal coming from above took the NEXT criminal's attention. "STAY BACK!!" he screamed, pushing the thrown shuriken back. The next thing he felt was the rough sand against his skin as Edward punched him. The criminal turned his head to yell, but Origami Cyclone landed near them, grabbed him from behind, and pressed a palm to the criminal's mouth, saving them from any more sonic blasts. His hand was then covered by Edward's. Just in case.
"And the criminal's caught!" The spotlight focused on both of them with the criminal safely apprehended. The two Heroes could almost hear and see the graphic for capturing a criminal, 200 points and maybe even 50 points for doing so with a special move.
Origami Cyclone let his (secret) partner take care of the rest. He bowed, playing his part, and escaped before the other Heroes could corner him for questioning. Edward watched him go with sad eyes.

"It was either that or the bay," Edward said, wishing he had a chance to see Ivan since then.
"Can he even earn points if he's not on the roster yet?" Dragon Kid paused in her stretching and looked at Edward who tried to ignore how close they were getting to discovering the truth. "And the ninja does seem to be hanging around you the most."
"Maybe you're getting a partner. You both already seem like a team," Blue Rose placed a towel around her neck and shook out her hands. The dummy had been frozen solid. "Could you tell him to stop photobombing me?"
"A new partner coming out of nowhere like that..." Wild Tiger looked bored and folded his arms behind his head. He wasn't training again. "They're copying us. They're so unoriginal, eh, Bunny?"
Barnaby pushed his glasses up higher on his nose. "Let's hope we won't have another old man to deal with."
"And what's that supposed to mean?"
"Anyways," Edward interrupted. "That ninja's-"
"Bonjour, Heroes!" Agnes said as she walked into the room, looking to each Hero like she was taking a mental count. She then found Edward and smiled. "And how is everyone today?" Around the room were more mummers of the ninja and half said complaints that they weren't being told who this new Hero was. They were already half into this season, and no one wanted to wait until the award ceremony to learn who the ninja was. Barnaby had done that already. Were they really going to do so again?
"It's only a temporary thing for the ratings, you understand. Don't worry too much about it." She smirked and waved the complaints off. "And a little mystery never hurts. It's the ninja way after all."
Sky High nodded enthusiastically at that idea. "Ah, that's right! Ninja have to be sneaky and secretive."
"Can we at least have something to call him by?" Barnaby asked. There was some logic to the request. 'That ninja' was beginning to get old, and it had been barely a two weeks since that ninja first appeared.
Rock Bison was about to add his opinion when the door to the room started to open once more. Everyone's attention went to the new arrival. Agnes inhaled sharply and ducked behind Edward, grabbing his arm as she did. He shuddered at the attractive woman's sudden and surprising touch. When had Agnes cowered behind anyone? He then looked over his shoulder wide-eyed.

"Huh? Weren't you already here?" Wild Tiger looked over to Edward who was now awkwardly standing as tall and big as he could as something behind him glowed blue. "I thought..."
"Oh was I now...?" Agnes' brows knitted together as she glared at but not at Edward. There was no hiding from her. "Origami Cyclone!" The name caused everyone to raise their heads in recognition of the name. Though, last it had been used for a paper shuriken.
"Hai!" came a voice from behind Edward, who stepped aside to show everyone the newcomer. The glow changed in height and build, hair lightened and fluttered out every which way. Ivan pulled his neck into his shoulders like he wanted to hide in his oversized jacket. Edward merely grinned. God, how Edward was tired of having to hide the fact that he knew what was going on. "I-I mean, yes! ... Uh... Um... Eh?"
"You weren't supposed to meet the other Heroes until next week!" She stepped closer, causing Ivan to try and duck behind Edward once more. "What are you doing here?"
"... I'm sorry. I just wanted to see what they were like... Th-this was my idea. Edward didn't... he didn't know I'd be doing this--"
Edward reached back and lightly hit him on the top of the head. "Everyone, this is my partner Ivan Karelin; Hero name's Origami Cyclone. We went to the Academy together. He's a bit socially challenged, but he makes a damn good ninja even if he doesn't think it." The horrified and very flustered look on Ivan's face as he said all that was priceless. Edward couldn't make out the stammering that followed.
"My, isn't he a cute child?" Fire Emblem said. "I can see why Sandy wanted to find your shuriken so badly."
"You're that ninja?" Blue Rose stared flabbergasted at Ivan. "You're the photobomber?"
Dragon Kid laughed. "He's hardly like him at all!"
Sky High walked over and gave Ivan a hard pat on the back. "Welcome, and again welcome, Origami Cyclone!"
The other Heroes gathered around to greet and meet the new Hero. Agnes gave a frustrated sigh. "All right, change of plans. You two!" She pointed a finger at Edward and Ivan. "Prepare yourselves for a press conference at six. Someone call security and give Hero access rights to Origami Cyclone."
She left with a phone to her ear, no doubt setting up all the important arrangements for the press conference. The camera crew followed, but they nearly barreled into Agnes as she suddenly stopped. On a heel, she spun around to face the Heroes once more. "And Origami!" Ivan jumped where he stood. "If I ever catch you transforming into me again, there will be no form you can take that'll hide you from me."
Ivan nodded stiffly. Edward couldn't help but laugh and throw an arm over his partner's shoulder once Agnes was safely away. "Heh, this Hero stuff must be finally getting to you," he said. "I never knew you'd dare shapeshift into her of all people."
