LONG road trip
So,
It is Wednesday morning and I have returned (with Jen) from a 2,700 mile road trip that still has about 900 more miles to go! I drove to Halifax, helped pack Jen and Sarah's stuff into a U-Haul trailer, met PEI Girl, went to Peggy's Cove, and drove home.
The trip up was uneventful - I stayed at my sister Trish's house on Friday night and saw my nephews Eli and Ian and Ian's dad Eric and my other sister Katie. We had a great dinner - eggplant parmesan - and then off to bed since I had to leave by 6:00 a.m. - it is 13 hours from Boston to Halifax. I got to Halifax at about 8:00 and had leftover pizza for dinner - I told Jen to eat without me as I got delayed for about an hour at the border - no need for her to go hungry.
Sunday, we picked up the other Jen and then went to Peggy's cove sightseeing - had lunch, drove back to Jen's place along the scenic route and saw lots of expensive homes and great scenery.
I went to attach the trailer to my truck so we could start loading it and noticed that it had a flat tire! U-Haul emergency road service had a truck out within an hour and fixed it. We packed all of their belongings (with the help of a little kid - Adam - from downstairs) into the trailer and truck and then went to dinner. Dinner was at the restaurant Sarah used to work at. Did not see 'bitch-owner-lady' or 'useless-owner-guy' but had a great time - good food too!
Drove PEI Girl home - a bit of a tearful goodbye to her (she cried, NOT me LOL). She's very friendly and it is sad that Sarah and Jen won't see her for quite a while - they seem to have found a good friend in her and she in them.
(Jen - it was very nice meeting you and I wish you all the best!).
Jen and I went back to their apartment and got up at the CRACK of dawn, loaded the computer and TV into the truck and hit the road.
Saw a road-kill bear on the way out of Nova Scotia and got delayed on the border for about 2 hours while we got Jen's and Sarah's paperwork straightened out. Got to my sister's at about 8:30 - had some chili and went to bed. On the road at 8:00 a.m. and home at 7:00.
We STILL need to get Jen and their stuff to Milwaukee - we'll leave tomorrow (Susan too this time) and get back Saturday.
