Tosh never told Ianto how she took her coffee. Actually no-one did.

No-one found it strange on his first day when he made them all perfect coffee’s without asking. Maybe they thought Jack had told him. Although Jack never went to fetch coffee while Ianto was watching them, trying to learn them because he needed to know how to get on the inside.

Actually back in those days it was usually Tosh who went to get the coffees. She never noticed Ianto in the queue behind her. Carefully noting what she ordered.

Tosh never told Ianto she was lonely after Mary. Her work hours just got longer; suddenly it was the early hours of the morning before she was heading home. It lasted about two weeks. During that time Ianto made sure she always got her coffee first and they always had her favourite biscuits in stock.

He made sure he had enough to do that she was never the last to leave. A couple of nights he ended up sitting with her while she explained some programme or other she was working on and Ianto would try his very best to look interested.

One night they hacked into the UNIT mainframe and made it look like the upper echelons of UNIT had been receiving mail from various porn sites. Jack came down from his office to find out what the giggling was about. He tried to tell them off but the fact he couldn’t stop laughing took any sting out of it.

Tosh never told Ianto, or as far as Ianto knew anybody, about the circumstances around her induction into Torchwood. But one of the jobs that very quickly fell into Ianto’s lap after he joined Torchwood Three was maintaining the archives (no-one else wanted the job and they were dangerously close to Lisa’s room) that included the hard copies of the personnel files.

Ianto was trained by Torchwood One he didn’t have a very high opinion of UNIT to start with. But finding out what they did to Tosh pretty much confirmed everything he’d ever been told.

**

Tosh never told Ianto she thought he and Jack were cute, but he caught her watching with a sappy expression on her face when they danced at Gwen’s wedding. Ianto had to close his eyes and pretend he couldn’t see her.

**

Tosh never told Ianto that she wanted someone to contact her Mum after she died. But Ianto went anyway. He told as much of the truth as he could. That Tosh died saving Cardiff from nuclear meltdown. That she was a hero.

Mrs Sato asked questions about her daughter’s life. Some that Ianto could answer, some that he couldn’t. “You will miss her?” asked Mrs Sato, face stained with tears.

“Yes,” replied Ianto doing his best not to cry too. “Everyday.”
