Foxtrot had a cute math based cartoon this past Sunday, and it took me a good 5 minutes to figure it all out. There are about 5 different little math jokes tossed into it. The one that got me was: Peter asks Paige what it's like outside, and she says inverse sine of 1. I know that--it's pi/2. But that didn't make any sense...
I was in radians, not degrees. It should be 90 degrees. (To get the derivatives of the trig functions to work out nicely, one must work in radians. Otherwise there are some pesky constants flying about.) I either know too much or too little for my own good. I suspect both. (Although looking at my thesis so far, I'm leaning towards the too little side right now. Gotta fix that...)
