Shit, I nearly forgot to prattle on about my latest linguistical pondering thingy. I know everyone is thrilled that I remembered because language is an oh so fascinating subject. >=P
I wrote this down in a hurry at work when something caused it to cross my mind:
'Neither works
It doesn't work
What if -- Not-it works'
What I was thinking was, what if there were a personal pronoun that could effectively negate the action, the same way 'neither' does if you say 'neither works'?
Say there was some language, and the word for 'cat' was 'rathe'. And say 'vara' meant run.
Say 'rathe-vara' means 'the cat runs'.
What if there were a suffix appended on the subject that negated the action.
'rathetis-vara'. 'Catno-run'. 'The cat does not run.'
That is so cool.
