everything about BKK

i'm at the airport now waiting for my flight back home. i can't wait to go back! i've spent too long in BKK already although i loved the shopping, the food and the hotel. however, all that is causing a massive pimple outbreak on my face!! NOOOOOOooooOOoo... must be all the tom yum soup and the chillied stuffs.

must blog about all the stuff i did here b4 i forget.

friday morning, hubby and i flew into BKK and managed to grab a cabby down to Novotel Siam Square. We tried to get Di and Kiwi but weren't successful so we went awandering on our own in the Siam Square area. high tea/dinner was at this jappy restaurant called Zen at Siam Centre and we headed over to pantip plaza for pirated DVDs. ended up at this place called Big C and bought seaweed and crispy pork as well as bottles and bottles of water! Headed back to the hotel and had dinner at Siam Paragon's foodie court. Tired and nursing painful feet after half a day's worth of shopping, hubby and I went for foot reflexology at Lek Massage. This was pretty spa-y zen-looking place across the road from our hotel. hubby enjoyed the foot reflexology immensely and so did I! We finally managed to hook up with Di and Kiwi to meet up the next day. Headed back to the room for Stepford Wives and some well-deserved sleep.

The next day was Chatuchak Day! it was my first time in the weekend market and i had no idea how large it was! it started out muggy and hot and i wasn't too proficient at bargaining but i managed to get by. ended up buying loads of stuff, including cheap t-shirts, cheap skirts, cheap pillows, cheap shirts for hubby, cheap tops and all sorts of other cheap stuff! even cheap rose quartz! hubby and i kept losing di and kiwi cause we were apt to wander off on our own. the puppies were so adorable! there was this tiny one that looked a bit foxy and pawed at the glass at me, seeming to say "Take me home!" (it did that to kiwi too) SO CUTE! eventually, hubby and i completely lost kiwi and di and we decided to meet up at siam BTS station later that day. thank goodness i left my mobile with di and kiwi incase we got separated, but i'm expected a super-duper bomb on my phone bill this month! realised that hubby and I had shopped from 9.30am to 5.30pm! thankfully our feet weren't *that* sore, in part i think to the foot massage we had the day before. we dumped our purchases and took quick showers to wash off all the sweat and dirt of the day. boy, was there lots of sweat and dirt! dinner was at Coca steamboat restaurant and dessert was at Chocoholic, this lovely cafe with vintage lampshades and a delicate, classy sort of feel to it. (I da pao-ed one of their strawberry cupcakes to bring back to sg. it's sitting in a box next to me now!) More foot reflexology followed. We wanted to try a different massage parlour, but it seemed that Lek was having real good business, which probably meant that they were the best! (or they looked the least dodgy) so we ended up going to Lek again.

Sunday arrived, bearing more shopping for hubby and I at Mahboonkrong or MBK for short. We rushed around madly and had lunch at this japanese teppanyaki place called Oishi Teppanyaki. I ended up getting a blister from all that rushing around and whilst hubby got himself his last massage of the trip, i stayed in the room packing and preparing. so good wife hor?? =) after hubby left, i took a long hot bath with this bath tea packet that i brought along but didn't use. i unthinkingly left it on the bathtub and went out to meet di and kiwi at MBK. bought some photo frames at the Loft on the way to MBK. di and i den went crazy at the little stalls outside MBK. kiwi so patiently helped us to carry our bags! we ended up at zen for dinner (again!) and then proceeded for more thai massage. went back up to my room and discovered (horror or horrors!) that the bath packet had left a dark yellow stain on the white bathtub! in the shape of a kogepan's head!! no amount of scrubbing seemed to remove it and then i started to panic. i prayed and hoped that they wouldn't notice it, so i tried to cover the stain with the soap dish. to no avail, can still see abit of the kogepan's chin, so i gave up and went to sleep.

woke up the next morning and headed over to training hotel for my course. i didn't like my trainer, but i have no choice but to be nice to him, cause he's my only tech support for this product that i'm learning. he reminded me so much of my ex-boss at N30z. class ended early and i rushed to the airport to pick up Mom. Mom was quite shocked to see me there cause she thought she would have to go to the airport on her own and she was already at the counter trying to get a 700 baht limo taxi. thank goodness I picked her up! Brought her for a walkabout the siam square area and had a very spicy dinner at this place called Yum Sap at MBK. they overcharged me by 50 baht and i created a mini scene cause they didn't really understand what I was talking about. most of the shops were closed but I rather enjoyed walking around with her.

I feel that during this trip, i managed to spend more time with my mom. it's amazing how after a while, my mom didn't look all that scary anymore, but she was just this lonely woman who wanted some attention. i'm glad that she came to join me in thailand, even though I wasn't all too keen on her coming over at first. Hope that she's finally seen how i've grown up. she kept commenting: "Last time i bring you go walk walk. now you bring me go walk walk. I'm so glad I came". I resolve to be nicer to my mom in future and try to spend more time with her.

anyway, the next day was spent at training again and mom and I somehow ended up at MBK, having dinner at Yum Sap again. so embarrasing. I half thought that they didn't want to serve us cause of what happened the day before. this time, mom and i ate till we couldn't take the chilli anymore and left the odd veges behind. wanted to go for massage but got hooked on a young (and still so cute) Heath Ledger on star movies. I think it was "10 things I hate about you".

[insert more training and complaints about the trainer here]. brought mom to Big C for grocery shopping. she was so pleased and we bought packets and packets of seaweed, crispy pork and curry paste. by the time we brought everything back and headed out for dinner, most eateries were closed so we da pao-ed tom yum puffs and cakes from secret recipe, and oddly enough, takoyaki, back to the hotel. half a tom yum puff later, I was full. though I must admit that the tom yum puff is really nice! more foot reflexology with a reluctant mom.

[insert more comments about how I don't like trainer here]. my course ended slightly early today and i reached back to find a sleeping mom. i started packing up my stuff into the luggage, coz mom kept worrying about how everything was going to fit. i managed to find space for everything and shifted some of mom's load into my suitcase. thanks be to considerate hubby who brought all my shopping home first to clear space for mom's shopping! did all the last minute shopping at MBK, Loft and dinner was at Coca. Mom enjoyed the steamboat immensely! she kept commenting how we should have eaten this on the first day (I wanted to bring her, but she was telling me about how she just had steamboat the night before...) I was very happy that she was pleased with dinner and I headed for thai massage with hot compress while she stayed in the hotel room and worried about the packing.

it was a short day of training just to wrap up and yummy buffet lunch at the atrium. whiled most of the day away online before I left for the airport. can't wait for my flight home!!
