Incision update

I took off the tapes (they were getting gucky) and had my first real good look at this thing.

I almost felt like that girl in the old ghost story, you know, with the ribbon around her neck? Torn between wanting to look more at this wound, to poke it and see what would happen; and wanting to just stick a bandaid on it again as quick as possible and hope it didn't fall open before I had it covered. I love my insides, I just don't necessarily want them to suddenly appear in my bathroom mirror.

As it turns out, I've got nothing to worry about. I'm amazed at how totally it's healed already, for one thing; but for another ~realizing, they had my throat open. They cut it, and it opened, and they took something out and sewed it back up. That's just phenomenal, and hadn't really hit me when it was covered up. I won't have much of a scar, but at this moment there's a rapidly healing, 2-inch wide incision on my neck, which I don't even remember being inflicted. That blows me away.

(Just imagine what I'll be raving on like if I ever have a C-section.)

Anyhoo. Dabbed on a little antibiotic gel, put on another bandaid. I'll leave it open to the air tomorrow, but I'd rather not bust it open in my sleep, or get cotton fibers embedded in it or anything. You know the way that happens with a normal cut, and then it's a bitch having little puffs of blue or whatever in the scab, and you just know they're going to either infect it or be lying under your skin forever if you don't get them out...yeah, it might spice up my scar, but as interesting as that would be, I'd rather just go for the plain pink line. I can always spice it up with a Sharpie or something if I want to freak people out.
