Dweebness, Squared.

Further to this entry, the more I read about Windows Vista, the more excited I get.

I've learned that I was incorrect in my assumption that it was designed only to run on 64-bit machines, and research has revealed that my current hardware meets the minimum requirements for Beta 1, which makes me Very Happy. Y'know, just in case those requirements should happen to remain the same when it's out of beta and releases next year. (I'm still sort of hoping that necessity will require me to get some newer and better components by then, of course....)

Why am I so thrilled about this? Probably because I know so much more about computers now than I did when the last big Windows project was released; I'm so interested in building, tweaking and customizing and all that jazz; and this computer is a Big Thing in my life. That, and being part of something so huge, even simply by comprehending what the changes in Vista mean (like recognizing that the new IE looks very much like what Firefox has all along)...it's cool to *know* what's going on, somehow.

This from the girl who gleefully anticipated chaos at midnight on January 1, 2000, happily chanting, "The computers are gonna crash! The computers are gonna crash!"
