Captioning info

When I watch TV, I like to have the captions on.

It occurred to me some time ago that I wouldn't mind having the job of writing the captions. Lots of people benefit from them. I can spell, I can type, I like to watch TV, and this sounds like the perfect kind of job to throw all these things together.

With the help of the captions themselves (at the end of each episode of a program, there's a notice of which company captioned the show, usually with a website), I've done some research and found some interesting information.

So now the only thing I've changed my mind about is wanting to do the real-time ones. Everything else still seems really cool.

Anybody out there who does this kind of work, or knows someone who does? After I move, I'll have to find a job...might as well start getting acquainted with possibilities.

P.S. http://bash.org/?69868 heh, you want to see something funny, closed-caption the news.
