"'but at the same time, children now physically mature sooner.'

Which on the face of it is true, but it's also something that gets trotted out a lot by paedophiles and ephebophiles trying to justify themselves. Hogwarts Exposed being what it is, I'm reluctant to extend the benefit of the doubt here."

I would like to point out that during the run-ins with HG-131, this was exactly the excuse he would use to explain why it wasn't perverted that twelve and thirteen-year-olds were having sex/watching sex/talking about explicit sexual matters with their parents, etc. He tried to prove this with an anecdote (which he stupidly copied on das_sporking, while posting anonymously), about how in first grade, he knew a girl who had B-cups. Make of all that what you will.

Eh, I still don't think HG 131 was Neil, because when I was arguing with him he went off on a tangent about how he hated everything about America, whereas Neil included the Americans' school (in his infinite creativity) and is an obvious American.

Although, who knows? Maybe he really hated the whole nation because we don't like pedophiles here (not that anyone does, but you know how these kind of people are... "Japan's age of consent is 13! See, totally allowed!"*).

*While the baseline requirement for age of consent in Japan is 13, it's actually higher in the prefectures, since many of them make the AoC 18. Pedophile and pedophile apologists: -∞ - 1.

I suspect HG-131 was American, or at least lived in America. During our discussions, at one point I read a PM from him as soon as he sent it. In that PM, he said it was three in the morning for him, which was the time it was for me. He also seemed rather well-versed in the ages of legality for New York, suggesting he lived there.

I suspect he either went on his anti-American rants either for the reason you proposed, or as a way to distract us from the pedophilia and age of consent arguments. You know, stirring up shit over a very different issue, with the hope of distracting us with that. He tried it earlier, when he compared calling HE "sick" to supporting segregation.

His IP address (the static IP he used for both TVTropes edits and anon flaming on LJ, like nobody would notice) resolved to somewhere in Florida. I doubt it was a proxy, because trying to hide your identity by using the same proxy on anon and namespace kind of defeats the purpose, and the time zones would match if that's where he was. I think New York was a red herring, especially as he was wrong about it: the age of consent there is 17, not 16.

Remember when said that America's values and morality shouldn't be applied because, in his words, "this is the country that got Firefly canceled and made the Jersey Shore popular"?

legally, if they were above the age of consent in wherever they lived, that would be fine. morally, itd be more of a grey area. it depends on the severity of the difficulty and if they could properly consent, i suppose.
