He mentioned that Crookshanks hadn't got any screen time because he's not a nudist. He might have been trying to pull a funny, but I suspect it's not far from the truth.

Alfred is in the same plothole as Crookshanks. The Yahoo reader who got the "probably because he's not a nudist" reply asked about both.

What is it with badfics and their tendency to send characters tumbling down plotholes?

If you're not paying attention, you're more likely to produce bad writing and more likely to lose track of characters. In this author's case, "not paying attention" probably means getting distracted by a song on the radio and deciding that Hermione should sing it.
