A SYSO Lj community... who'd a thunk?
I'm Ruth, and a newbie both in orchestra (Youth) and community, as today was my very first rehearsal. The orchestra rocks, as I'm sure you'd all agree; considerably better than the orchestra at UW, where I go. (Shh - don't tell the UW faculty that.) Or maybe it was just refreshing to have such a big ensemble (I'm used to like 40-50 piece orchestras) and music with so much character. If you see me drooling when we play the Rachmaninoff, try to understand. It's also great to be in a group with the superstars like Caitlin and Helen.
So, I'm a bit nervous about what I've gotten myself into, but so far, rehearsal was a thrill. I hope to get to know all you people. By the way, is anyone dressing up for the Halloween concert?
Also: I'm trying to get a quartet together for this year. Does anyone have two violins and a cello up their sleeve? (Or just violins would be cool - I might have a willing cello.)
Looking forward to posting!
