Taking Scetchbooks to Kitee

I finally got my scanner in order, and after spending a few days scanning photographs and postcards of ships, now it's time to get to the real business, in other words mah drawings. Not that there would actually be that many that I'd want to post.

It seems I'm doing this in a somewhat roundabout way, as these are two of three redesign scetches I made of Damo, the main character of Taking Islands, after drawing the first five pages and then deciding to redesign the whole thing. So now I'm first posting the redesign and then the pages made using the original designs. Oh well.

The original Damo was sort of boyish, but I wanted to make him more masculine in the redesign. This scetch (if it qualifies as one) was made after I discovered a "how to draw masculine men" -guide on Y!Gallery and before you ask: yes, I mostly follow that for the porn. I actually think this turned out very well. And unlike the other drawings, in this case the scan actually does justice to the original I think.

Another problem with the first take on TA was the colour scheme. It takes place (or at least took in V1) in the tropics, and as a result almost everyone wore white clothes, and there weren't really any (other) elements that could be believably coloured dark. Which resulted in the pages looking sort of foggy - which was exactly the opposite of what I was aming for. Plus the white clothes were sort of dull. So, in addition to redesigning the character I also redesigned (or more to the point, recoloured) his clothes (and his hair).

There is also a third scetch, but that's a nude one and Photobucket aren't exactly keen on my uploading those on their server, so you'll have to do without it for the time being.

Actual comic pages to follow at some point. Maybe.

In other news, yesterday was my last day at work. Huzzah! Although I have to admit I'll miss most of my coworkers, they are a wonderful bunch of people. For instance, I got a bottle of Pepsi (wrapped like a wine bottle) and a toy boat as a parting gift. ^^
