The things no one tells you about babies…

The boys are sick. Respiratory syncytial virus. Apparently it is very common with some 90% of children having it before age two. They started exhibiting symptoms Friday… This weekend was an adventure in fevers over 100, diarrhea, and vomiting. By Sunday the vomiting was brought under control by feeding the boys much smaller amounts. Of course this also means feeding much more often. As of yesterday the diarrhea looks to be a thing of the past as well. Now we just have fussy boys with slight fevers on a totally haphazard feeding schedule. We’re slowly increasing how much formula we give them and hope to be back on a normal feeding schedule by next week. But they boys are still contagious, and are therefore staying home instead of going to daycare. They may need to stay home for a total of 14 days to avoid sharing their cooties with the other babies. Right now that means Grandma is taking care of the boys (thank goodness for grandmothers). Grandma isn’t always available though, so I’ll be home with the boys Thursday and Friday, and again on Monday to get the boys their shots and deal with the post-shot scream fest. While a five day weekend sounds nice, a five day weekend with crying babies is less than relaxing. Maybe I’ll at least get time to slog through the couple hundred pages of HP OpenView administrators guide.
