I had an amusing conversation yesterday with the head of the department. It went something like this (paraphrased for brevity)

M (on finding out I’m a republican) oh… so you voted for Palin?
S: well, that explains a lot… didn’t you realize that Palin wasn’t running for president?
M:
S: for the record I supported Ron Paul
M: who?
S: I think I see the problem, you didn’t even know who was running for office…
