Floor wax?

So, what am I missing here? What is the big deal?

One of the departments in the building brought in a bunch of stuff to make sundaes. They were in the kitchen downstairs, and, as I was busy nuking my lunch, I caught some of the “excitement”. They were all agog over Cool Whip in a can. A spray can. Just like every other spray whipped cream on the market. It was all “oooohs” and “ohhhhs”, and a “just like heaven” thrown in for good measure. These women were practically in orgasmic throes over this stuff. Seriously.

First of all, I saw it in the store weeks ago, and I’ve tried it. It tastes like…. Cool Whip. It doesn’t taste any different. It doesn’t taste “special”. It is just Cool Whip. Don’t get me wrong; I like Cool Whip. But there wasn’t anything spectacular about it, other than the fact that it came in a can.

It’s not any cheaper than a tub of Cool Whip. In fact, ounce for ounce, it is actually more expensive. And you get less. You are paying for air. (Well, it is primarily air to start with - hence the whole “whip” in the title thingie…)

Is it convenience? Is it too hard to pop open a plastic tub and use a spoon to scoop out the dairy delight? Is this beyond most people’s culinary skills?

I just don’t get it.

Oh, and a PS for those who don't get the title... It's a reference to an old SNL skit about "Shimmer", a floor wax/dessert topping. Funny stuff.
