Congratulations! I love mine :) I'll never use a p & s again.

Where are you taking a photography class? What kind of lens did it come with? *nosy*

I'm just at Pima for the time being. It came w/ the kit lens and an extra telephoto one. This week's reading is all about lenses, so I'll know more soon :D

Do you have a Canon?

Is it the class taught by Peter Hughes? I loved his class, and he does workshops afterward that you can go on, so that's cool.

I have an XSI, but I am planning to upgrade to a 50d. I want to be taking portraits and doing weddings professionally a year from now, and with the weddings I did I found that the XSI just can't handle low light conditions like I needed it to.

Need an assistant? I've been kicking around the idea of pursuing wedding photography (and/or protraits), but have a lot more to learn before I can do anything about it.

Hehe, I have probably just as much to learn as you do, my two wedding attempts notwithstanding. Still, if you're still interested when I actually get rolling, I would love an assistant.

So, is it Peter Hughes class? He's the really, really tall skinny guy.

Sweet - keep me posted :) They say having more than one "pro" camera @ a wedding is the best way to go - better chance of catching the great candids and such.
My prof is Steven Meckler (http://www.mecklerphotography.com/). Still getting a feel for his style, but it's been a decent class so far. It's frustrating starting from square one - I want to just dive in, but don't know how to do much more than shoot on auto mode right now. Patience...patience...

What does he teach? I'm wondering if I am missing some classes on the Pima roster. His images are beautiful.

Be patient. Once you get the difference between aperture, shutter speed and ISO and how they work together, you'll be back on track :) It shouldn't take long, and the XTI can do things that a P&S couldn't dream of.
