Right around 9pm, this hurricane-like thing descended upon my house. Wind was whistling under the doors, rain was lashing the windows, the palm trees outside were whipping, and my cat slunk into the bathroom in mortal terror.
Power flickered on and off, and Country Club became a raging river.
I couldn't see much of the damage from my morning commute, but here's a couple highlights -
Downed power line at Tucson Blvd. and Prince Rd (on Tucson). The stoplight was out and they had temporary stop signs turning the intersection into a 4-way stop. HA! People have enough trouble w/ the 4-way at Country Club. You should have seen the line of cars backed up!
Also,
One of the venerable old trees at Prince & Campbell was down. There were lots of patches of ash from police flares at almost every intersection. If I didn't have to come in to work today, I so would have been out exploring damage last night. Sigh.
Instead, I stayed in and did a double whammy of yoga and pilates workouts via DVD. Probably not the smartest thing I've ever done, but I had some aggression to work off. Now my back is killing me and I'm still peeved. Oh well. I continue my quest for
one hundred pushups tonight. It's a struggle, but I'm still on track. Halfway through week 3 - 3 more to go!
