It’s thundering outside. Normally, he wouldn’t think anything of it, but normally, his wife wasn’t banging her head against the wall in heavy, angry thuds. Oh, that was going to leave a mark.

“Sirius, just pay it!” She orders. Except it’s “Sirius!” THUD. “JUST.” THUD. “PAY.” THUD. “IT!” THUD. If he’s lucky, he’ll be able to fix her mood with a cookie.

“Don’t even think about it.” She turns and says to him. She turns back around and starts hitting her head against the wall again.

Sirius finally pipes up. “No! Why should I have to pay a fine for doing my job?”

Oooooof course. They’d just come from a mission not twenty minutes ago, and of course, a police man had followed them. He was lucky he was so polite, or else he wouldn’t be standing in the entrance hall, looking on in amusement. He’d be lying on the ground outside, probably with blackened hair standing on end and soot all over his face. Explosions do that sometimes, or so he’d seen on the telly.

Sirius had trespassed on some anti-Spooky bigwig’s land tonight. Of course, it was just to catch a few nasty, rogue gnome-demons. Various mental disorders, and they were being pretty difficult. They couldn’t leave them behind, honestly, because it was part of the job, but… that man had not been happy to see a giant black dog spit fire at a tiny little potato-headed thing with giant red eyes. He’d been furious when the dog had turned back into a man.

Tara finally stopped hitting her head against the wall. A fine bruise was already starting to form, but he could fix that pretty easily.

She glared at him, one of her finest that Sara had taught her early on, before he and Sirius and James and the rest had come along. It was terrifying.

“You have to pay the fine, honey, because people don’t like us very much for anything we do. Just pay the fine!” Her voice dripped with venom. It would be amazing, if he didn’t want to run and hide.

“No, I don’t think I will.” Alright, now Sirius was just being stupid.

“THEN SPEND THE NIGHT IN JAIL AND GO TO COURT.” Lightning flashed and thunder shook the house. Ooooooh, crap.

Sirius turned to the officer immediately. “How much is the fine, officer?”
