By sneaky means I finally got my copy of North and South back so tomorrow night I think a little wine and ordering of a take away is in order. I'll make a night of it, snuggle into my warm jammies, sit back and enjoy a little of this

This rejection scene ranks right up there with THAT Elizabeth/Mr Darcy scene. I'd go one step further, commit heresy and say it's even better than even the BBC P&P rejection. There's something aboutthese two character's that simply rings very true for me. Margret Hail isn't akarate chopping heroine or a 21st Century woman in a corset, she's very much a product of her time. She can be idealist and frustrating, there are times I just don't like her. The first time I watched I even threw a pillow at the TV but even if I didn't always like her I always understand where she's coming from. John Thornton on the other hand fans herself quick tempered, passionate, angsty hot, he's the imperfectly perfect costume drama protagonist or mine at least.
What I love about N&S is that it has the basic Pride and Prejudice set
up but it also delves into the grim reality of factory towns during the
Industrial Revolution and old ideals running smack up against new
realities.
Although really I'm just in it for
HIM the cinematography is simply gorgeous
