I just tried a Long Island Iced Tea earlier this month! It was sooooo good.

Dael feels/read as different in this installment. More confidant? Stronger? I'm not sure the word I'm looking for. This is not a criticism at all, by the way, but a recognition. I hope we get a section from her point of view too. I'd also love to read about what went on with her on her mission as well as her perspective of the aftermath of Chris' stroke and breakdown.

It feels as if Chris is in the middle of Jim & Dael, even when they are alone together. From what Jim said earlier, it's like that with him and Leonard, too. I'm worried about where this may lead. I also wonder if this would be improved with some Jim & Chris time or if that would hasten problems and confrontations.

I breathed a sigh of relief (really!) when Leonard thought about Jim and missed him. It gave me a hint of reassurance about them. And then I read the next bit and immediately felt the ache again.

Even with all of them sensing their relationship on shaky ground right now they are still quick to bristle at seeming criticism of their partners. I hope this is out of continued love and refusal to give up, and not just out of putting up appearances and habit.

Dael is as much of a gentle caretaker nature as Bones, and that knowledge alone makes Jim feel protected. <3

I'm definitely having a hard time getting a feel for Chris, and where he is and how he feels in all this. Part of it may be the lack of storytelling from his perspective so far when I am used to that, but he also seems like he's... starting over? Not quite a blank slate; more like a puzzle needing to be put back together, but where no one is sure they want all the pieces to go back where they used to be.

Chris is definitely still in reset mood, trying hard to control what exactly he lets back into his life, defining his limits and ignoring things outside. And he doesn't want the pieces just back in place, he's not the man he used to be, hasn't probably been for a while either.

The foursome will keep together, promised! All four of them, and also the main couples substructure (Jim/Bones, Chris/Dael). This "in the middle" thing, yes, it looks like that at times, but they'll get a hold on it :)

Thanks so much for another interesting commentary!
