I love the Rainbow ball -- hot fivesome sex, "I am what I am" and that Arissa knows Eric from a previous bondage workshop and likes perverting cute gay guys :) I have a clear mental image of Eric and he is totally adorable.

I like the peace and balance that has developed between Pike and John. Earlier it would have been unthinkable for Pike to let John fuck him -- there was too great an emotional discrepancy between what John felt for him and what he felt for John, plus Pike was too closed off in general allow it. Even bottoming for McCoy was a challenge for him.

And finally I got little glimpses of how the characters differed in their polyness -- Arissa, Dael, and Eric seemed just naturally polysexual. Pike was able to be polysexual in this way, but it doesn't come as naturally to him -- he seems to have to consciously relax into it, and consciously assess where his boundaries are.

Thanks so much for the feedback! I fixed the Arissa-Eric scene just tonight, so thanks again for your remark! It was perfect.

John and Pike really work a lot better in this point in their life, and you're right about your analysis.

Also, there are definitely various levels of polyness around, and Pike is on the lower level (as McCoy is). It'll keep being a major point in the relationships.

Rainbow ball had some damn hot sex. Yum. Pike's loneliness is so palatable in the second part of this chapter. I'm glad McCoy is looking out for him. I too wonder what Shaas is planning and am worried about Pike's seemingly growing isolation among the admirals and the way he comes off as more invested in his relationships than in his career. Totes understandable but... he seems like the guy to regret that development later. IDK. Anyway, I faintly remember an earlier report-like piece that John wrote on Pike. Fun to see how you mentioned that again this chapter. Am amazed at your ability to juggle all these different action+relationship threads. Looking forward to tomorrow. :D

Thanks! This juggling really killed me; I totally hope that XII will keep away from becoming as badly involved.

I loved reading your musings, although I can't really comment on them 'cause SPOILERS - so yeah, more tomorrow :))

Ooh, delightful to see more of this series! Such interesting developments with Dael's career track -- looking forward to seeing where that goes. I'm aching a little for Chris being left all alone without any of his lovers, though it's nice to see him and Farnham getting along better. The sex scene at the Rainbow Ball was HOT. ;-) Enjoying the long-distance glimpses of Jim and Bones too.

Thanks for the feedback! Happy you liked the Rainbow Ball sex ;) It was quite a challenge to write five people having fun.

So great to see this one back! You've created quite the universe here- it gets better and deeper all the time. I love how Chris' loneliness and need for human contact is showing without disturbing his true relationships, especially his bond with Leonard.
I'm looking forward to more, hopefully with more Jim and Leonard, and of course your gorgeous and creative sex scenes!

Glad you like this universe! They sure got me hooked so I'm happy to share.

Not much Jim/Bones in this one, but I promise more for the next installment :)

My responses to Act 1: (I'm gonna take this by acts because I can't wait until the end to comment ) exiled_mind November 13 2010, 17:12:33 UTC
The complexity of your storyline - both plot and character development - and your success in telling that story, is really inspiring. I love when I open a story and absolutely cannot stop reading it. When I read stories and authors that make me have to plan ahead when I'm going to read their work so that I have the ability to read all the way through without interruption (because goodness knows if I have to stop partway through and go do other things I will terribly distracted the whole time!) it's actually a little bit... exciting, I guess. Kind of like waiting to open presents on Christmas morning when you know for a fact that there will be something wonderful in the box ( ... )

You sooo making up for the delay!

So true; I've got an 140 K story on my own to-read list and didn't have time for it yet :) I'm happy I'm one of those authors for you!

There will be more Kirk/McCoy in the next installments, naturally, and obviously more of all four pairings :)

I found the scene where they respond to the news of Pike & Dael setting up & decorating their room to be especially moving.Aw, thanks for commenting on that! I found that in long distance relationships, these apparently little things have quite a great impact on the happiness and the feeling of connection and love ( ... )
