half assery struck and it struck hard. this weekend was super packed with things to do and just for good measure, j decided we should do everything twice lol! i did my best and didn't criticize and just pitched in while we did it all over again. man i'm beat!
so the ceiling fan was first, which i came in at the end of j and his dad's install job. j was holding up a piece. i look up and say "that would be the flange that goes around the base at the ceiling...like part 3 and you are finishing up part 62."
then there was the bed. we have a sleep number which has a weird plastic base thing which is suppose to be able to be put on a bed frame, but in all practicality, doesn't have the structural integrity to do. we had gotten bed slats to put under each of the plastic support beams in the plastic base....except j and his dad didn't actually put them under the beams. they just put them willy nilly under the bed. so we had gotten back from a party that night and made the bed and crawled in thoroughly exhausted...and the bed starts to fall apart. i ask j to take a look and he seems confused. i managed to get down on the floor and take a look and instantly see the problem.....so you decided not to actually support the parts that need to be supported. alright. so we had to strip the bed, tip the mattress over to one side, reassemble said plastic weird base, place the slats where they needed to be, and try again. i can say that the bed slats (now that they are where they should be) are working perfectly as additional support for the plastic cross beams.
finally he assembled the crib, but he put everything at the lowest level for when the baby is big and ready to climb out of the crib. i haven't told him about this. didn't have the heart to do it. i'm expecting a different mattress anyways since this one has been through 3 children already. i'll help him fix it once we get the new one.
what else did we get accomplished.....broke down a room full of boxes for recycling, we both got much needed massages, worked on the frabjous model some more, we got the comic done, oh yeah and we started baby class.
what i realized about baby class is that it is more for him. he was much more reassured and confident after the class. the questions and concerns he had were thoroughly overshadowed by the other people in the room and i think he finally saw that we are way more prepared then most. he left much more confident and we had good communication about what i was going to need and my quirks about asking for things and how he could best help out, so that was really good :)
i also saw that i am super tiny compared to all those ladies (which is good for this recovering anorexic). i may feel as big as a house, but wow, my bump is really tiny compared to the other bumps in the room. i also realized that i must have awesome skin! wow the stretch marks i saw were really terrifying! i have a few stretch marks, but they are really not bad. i swear one of those ladies in the movie they showed looked like kobe beef! horrible to say. i'll probably get an additional stretch mark for saying it. i guess i'm just thankful i have good skin and i'll take it.
