Coming home last Monday (May 6), I came across the Roosevelt Bridge because there'd been a lot of rain and the C&O Towpath was muddy. But after I got across the river, the trail was closed going north past Roosevelt Island to Rosslyn. Our driver's licenses are valid for 5 years, expiring at the end of your birthday month when your age turns a(n integer) multiple of 5. So I went to the DMV to renew my license today. Thursday a crew repaved the street in front of our house. Friday morning they painted lanes. When I got home from work, the detour was over. Traffic was coming through, and the temporary traffic signals were covered with opaque plastic (garbage bags?).

I was out to mow the grass last night (I got a later start than I intended, and it wasn't dark when I started) and I saw a hummingbird flitting from blossom to blossom in our front yard. anniemal has planted vegetables where they'll get full sun most of the day, and many of the vines are blooming now.
