I had to go in to the office this evening because our timecard server was down. The cause was truly strange. It had no power. It's plugged into a power strip, and the other systems and monitors on that strip were still functioning. But one plug on the power strip is now dead. All the other plugs on that strip were in use, so I uncoiled the cord a bit to reach over to the next strip, and the system booted with no major problems.
And of course, we can't replace or even examine that power strip without shutting down a few more servers.
