There was a large tree down on the towpath this afternoon. Looking at the remaining base of the tree, it doesn't make sense that it came down where it did. It must have somehow been directed to the open space of the towpath (and the canal) by bouncing off of trees in a more-congested direction.
This is a 3-day weekend coming up. I hope NPS can get the tree off the path before it gets really busy.
