I just bought a couple of Fila jackets very cheap on woot! One is way too large (XL), but for $4 (list $100!) it might be something to wear around the house in the winter (and in the summer, the way anniemal runs the AC). They had some smaller, but not in any colors I liked. The other jacket was $10 (list $120).

I don't own anything by FILA. I don't buy designer labels. This time they hit my price point. I don't buy things that advertise themselves. If I'm going to be your ad, you should be paying me.

Is this clearing out last year's products? Fashion seems like a waste of money to me. If I buy something because I like it, I don't stop liking it a year later. If something I like isn't available the next year, that could be lost sales. If they're changing it without improving it, I'm not going to buy the new just because it's different. And I don't notice what other people are wearing. I assume they're wearing things because they like them; it doesn't matter whether I like them. Anyone who's dressing to please me is wasting her/his time and effort. (If I'm noticing you for your clothes, rather than for you yourself, you haven't really got my attention.)

It's summer, so I'm not in a rush to have cool-weather jackets. (I am chilly now, though, in this basement.)

Monday 17:00

I retract my complaints about the tracking info.
When I was leaving for work today, I found the package was already here. Ordered (very early) Saturday; delivered Monday. I don't know what time it got here, but I'm going to guess it was sitting on the porch (in the sun) for a while because the contents were very warm when opened the box.

The puffy jacket ($10) may be just the thing for most of the fall/spring and mild parts of the winter. It's large, but I like my jackets large. I didn't try out the hood. [Later: the hood is just thin fabric. It's not warm, but it would block the wind. A knit cap underneath would be a good combo.]

The other jacket ($4) is extra large (the smallest size they had in a color I liked), but it may be a good external layer for winter cycling. It's heavier material than I expected, and may be an effective wind-blocking layer. The color (blue) is not great for night cycling, but the piping may be reflective. There's room for more layers (fleece? puffy jacket?) inside.

Time will tell how well they hold up with use, but this was probably a good deal for $20 ($5 shipping, 6% sales tax).

Shipping was probably done by Amazon; I think they bought woot! some time back. If regular shipping gets here in 2 days (over a weekend), paying for expedited shipping is a waste of money. (Not that I'd care about rush delivery of winter clothing at the summer solstice.)

Fast delivery of internet purchases is really going to hurt brick-and-mortar stores. Local stores can provide immediate gratification, but 2-day delivery isn't much of a delay. There's things I want to see first*, and things I'd want to try on, and things I might even need help with (like obscure bike parts) - but there's a lot of other things you can decide on with just a description and some photos.

*If I'd spent much time using my present laptop before I bought it, I wouldn't have bought it. There's no caps-lock indicator, so you don't get a clue that you've hit it accidentally until your text is reverse-cased. And the "mouse" buttons are not separate from the rest of the trackpad, so I often get a multi-finger scroll when I don't want it. Those are things I will be avoiding on any future computers. ☹
