Subject: Bike days of summer
Summer is a wonderful time to ride, but sometimes you need a little extra motivation to get outside. That's why we've chosen four days and officially declared them the Bike Days of Summer.

http://www.peopleforbikes.org/pages/get-grimy-dayYou can't see those dates until you follow the links. (Odd that each link has the dates only for the other days, and not for itself.) And it took me some extra work to get links that weren't tracking me. (Take note, bulk mailers (and spammers): I almost never click on tracking links. (And I do notice that they are tracking links.))No matter how, where or when you ride, these are four ways on four days to roll easy through summer.

Hope to see you out there!

Who comes up with these things?
I'll fix a flat when I get a flat. I don't have any planned date in mind to get a puncture. And given that it's possible to do damage with any maintenance, I'm not going to fix anything that's not broken. Here's a
list of bike shops across the U.S. that are offering special promotions for flat fixing on June 20.
I guess that's why it's a weekday, a slack day for bike shops. (My closer recumbent shop isn't open Mon/Tue.)prime that pump
It's an air pump. Are you in a vacuum?
I don't go to ball games, so I have no reason to bike to a ball game.
I don't have any pals to pedal with. And I'm not going to drive my bike to somewhere to ride with a group.
I try to keep my bike clean, and avoid riding places where it will get dirty - e.g. I don't commute on the C&O Towpath when I think it will be muddy.more than one-third of all road miles in the U.S. are still unpaved gravel or dirt roads.
With its small wheels and long derailleur arm, my bike is a poor choice for dirt roads and not suited to mountain biking. I'll get grimy when I fix a flat, but again, I can't schedule that.
[I just noticed they have a recumbent-looking bike in their Grimy-Day illustration. (Yay! But...) Except that those pedals would have to have an axle going through the front wheel. And the front suspension on the other bike wouldn't work. Does this cycling-advocacy organization have any cyclists looking at the artwork? You don't have to be a recumbent rider (or an engineer) to see that the fanciful design can't work. Maybe they need to hire artists who actually ride bikes?
This posting didn't start out as a rant - more of a gripe - but when you start looking at things, you see things....]slip on last year's sneakers
How often do you people buy/replace shoes? My clothing (including shoes) lasts decades. (And I care nothing about fashion.)
And I don't tweet, so I won't be sharing photos there. I just don't live in the same world as PeopleForBikes.
