road work

I mowed the lawn today. I wish I'd gotten an earlier start, when it was a bit cooler, but many late work nights the past month have really screwed with my body clock. (I was working 'till 05:00 Friday night, and someone else worked past 11:00. I got back online at noon, and I missed him by not very much. I wish I'd gotten to NC this weekend, but work is making too many demands on us. (Yes, I will be glad to be gone for 2 weeks for Pennsic.)

I managed to mow the whole yard one 1 charge this time. But barely; the battery was pushed too far. This is also the first mowing this summer a week after the last mowing, so the grass wasn't as tall.

I found a tape measure in the front yard. It was probably left behind by someone working on the road construction. I put it under one of the orange cones closing off the sidewalk. I don't think any grabby passers-by will see it, and the construction guys should find it tomorrow.

The narrowing of the pavement (roadway) is going to leave us with more cement, not more grass. That's kind of ugly, but it will leave me less to mow. There's a bus stop across the street, so cement makes more sense there (although I can seldom recall seeing more than 2 people waiting for a bus). There's bus routes on both streets at the corner, so 4 bus stops, but they're paired on the corners across the streets from us (and none on the diagonal corner, matching our corner).
