Saturday I replaced a broken spoke on my rear wheel. That required removing the tire and tube.
Last night my rear derailleur was occasionally scraping. Low pressure on the tire can cause this. The tire is rated 40-100psi (2.8-6.9bar), so I pumped it up to 90psi (6.2bar) after I got home.
When I was leaving for work today, the tire was soft. A slow leak (that was faster now Tuesday night than Sun/Mon/Tue together).
I took off the tire and tube, but couldn't find the leak. There was a patch on the tube already, and I've been having a problem with leaking patches lately. I peeled off the old patch and put on another, re-installed the tire and tube, and pumped it up. It was good the rest of the day.
I'm going to conclude that the first patch was fine until the tire and tube were removed to replace the spoke, and somehow that disturbance caused the leak. The hole in the tube was actually pretty big (compared to the typical thumbtack, small nail, or glass shard), and I'm surprised I don't remember whatever happened to cause it. (It's been less than a year; the bike is new.) There would probably be tire damage to go along with that sort of hole.
