Daylight Saving Time started last Sunday. I haven't gotten to sleep before 04:00 since then. My body clock has been rather stubborn.
The cell in the "atomic" clock was dead last weekend. I put in a fresh cell Sunday, but it didn't sync with the radio signal from Colorado until Thursday morning. I'd left it overnight in several locations, including the garden shed, hoping for adequate reception. I eventually put it back in its normal home, a north-facing window.
I've been putting in short days at work. It may be the way I finally take my use-or-lose vacation time. 5- or 6-hour days will leave me short for the week, if nothing happens on the weekends. (The last time I took days off I still had enough hours without taking vacation time.)
I biked Mon, Wed, and Thu this week. Tue it rained, and we're expecting rain Friday evening. Our yard is still saturated from the snow. I expect the C&O towpath is muddy, and I've been taking the alternate (all-paved) route for the past couple of months.
Wednesday I spotted a few crocuses in the back yard, and a few more today.
anniemal said they're rampant in the front yard. Today I noticed a yard bursting with the little buggers a couple of blocks into my commute, just before the short (no-longer-)impossible hill. There's a yard in the other direction (previous commutes) that also has a yard full of crocuses. I expect it's very busy now too.
Friday 22:00
I took public transit today because rain was forecast by 21:00, and biking gets me home usually after 22:00. I looked at the weather RADAR around 19:00 and there was clearly rain coming, but DC was in a clear pocket. Depending on how fast things were moving, it could easily be raining by 21:00. I felt the first drops of rain as I got on the bus in Ballston at 21:30. Biking probably would have been OK, getting home in light rain at 48°F/8.9°C, but that's hard to predict at 14:00.
My trips on Metro today were unusually fast both ways - 40 min in, 56 min home, not counting the walk between the subway and my office. I barely caught the bus leaving my house, and both waits for trains were short. And the waits where short returning, except for the first train at Union Station.
Saturday 18:16
It's strange that it's not dark yet. But we're getting close to the equinox, and DST started last Sunday. Sunset's at 19:15.
