locker excitement

Oct 27, 2014 17:15

At the office we have 4 rooms with showers and lockers (2 men's, 2 women's). We're not supposed to leave locks on the lockers, but some people do. I assume this rule is to ensure turnover and allow access to everyone. Today in the room I use there were 9 lockers with locks. One has a sign that says it's for the security staff, and it has always had a lock. Of the other 8, 5 now have Post-It notes asking that the locks be cut off. 3 don't have notes. I don't know who left the notes, or why, or why 3 don't have notes. I don't know whether someone has been monitoring which locks come and go to identify stale locks.

I have been keeping several changes of clothing in a locker since my desk assignment moved to the basement. "My" locker is not locked, but nothing has disappeared from it. (Who would want to steal someone else's not-new clothing anyway?) There have always been empty lockers, so there doesn't seem to be a shortage of space yet. There is a shortage of space in my office; there is not room at my desk to store clothing. (I had plenty of space at the old site (before the move downtown). The downside of having a wall of window there was no privacy for changing clothes at my desk (ground floor, after dark).)
