I know those of you who have children are often second-guessing your efforts at parenting. You are good parents. This is a bad parent:Amanda Arellano helped boyfriend Daniel Kelly Copeland sexually abuse her young daughters, infuriating Bibb County Judge Howard Simms, who told the twisted mother about a 'special place in hell' for perverts like her.

Arellano and her boyfriend, 30-year-old Daniel Kelly Copeland, decided three years ago to involve her daughters, ages 6 and 8, "into their sexual behaviors as a couple," prosecutors said.
The perverse attacks began with Arellano and Copeland performing sex acts in front of the girls, and they devolved into hardcore abuse, including oral sex and sodomy, the Albany Herald reported.
Bibb County prosecutor Nancy Scott Malcor told the paper the disgusting, drug-fueled sessions took place for months and became an "every night thing."
The degenerate couple was busted in 2012 after Copeland's father told police his son had admitted having sex with kids.*
Copeland pleaded guilty in 2013 to rape and aggravated child molestation. He was sentenced to 25 years with lifetime probation.
Arellano ... pleaded guilty to rape and aggravated child molestation....
[Bibb County, Ga., Judge Howard Simms] told the Arellano there was "a special place in hell" for people like her.
*Thank whatever-you-thank that decency outweighed family loyalty. How many more abused kids are out there with "guardians" protected by family secrecy/shame?

This is another bad parent:KEARNS, Utah -- A Utah woman accused of dumping her day-old baby in a neighbor's trash can told police she was afraid to tell her parents about the pregnancy and hoped the newborn's death would solve her problems, a probable cause statement shows. Alicia Marie Englert, 23, was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of attempted murder. The baby girl was in critical condition at a Salt Lake City hospital on a ventilator and fighting for her life, authorities said. The mother told officers she had left the baby about an hour before the child was found, authorities said. Englert told police the baby had not received any medical care or food. The baby was discovered by a woman who heard what she thought was a kitten meowing in the trash bin in the Salt Lake City suburb of Kearns on Tuesday morning, police said.
If the baby hadn't been found, alive, or been noticed by the garbage pickup (or at the landfill), Alicia's "problem" probably would have been solved. You've got to wonder how often this happens. Women do sometimes hide their pregnancies.
A 23-year-old is an adult. If she was afraid of her parents, is she still living in their home? Did she not know the biologically-intended outcome of sex, or was she disregarding it, playing the odds and deceiving herself? Who/where is the man (or men) involved in this?

And parents who don't notice that their daughter is pregnant? That's another layer of bad parenting. Yes, some physiques can make it hard to notice, but if your child does not have a medical condition that makes an ample figure unavoidable, allowing your child to set her/himself up for the consequences (physical and societal) of obesity is also bad parenting.

How do you raise a child who thinks it is OK to dispose of - literally - another human being?

I keep saying it, but there's something fundamentally flawed about a society that puts more controls on having dogs than on having children. Maybe having children is a right, but the children have rights too. I don't know how to regulate having babies, but there's clearly people who should not be having babies.
