I ordered some shirts from woot! Friday morning. They arrived today (Tuesday). That strikes me as amazingly fast. These are more of the shirts anniemal ordered for me in September. I find them comfortable, and I think they look good.
[Turns out they shrink horribly when washed. ☹ One wash, and they're too small for me. Two sizes up might have been good....]

We're having a pot-luck at work tomorrow. I made brownies tonight. They taste weird, though. I used applesause instead of oil, which I've done many times before, but I think the fruit is cutting through. I also added chocolate chips, but this batter was thinner than usual and the chips all sank to the bottom and melted. No little bursts of chocolateness.
I can skip breakfast, since there'll be a big lunch. And I'll have to figure out how to carry the brownies on my bike.

I've never seen this beer before, but the label is awesome.
Anniemal bought this ale today. It didn't do much for me, but I'm not really a beer person.

We had the potluck at work today. I carried a double batch of applesauce brownies in a baking pan with a plastic lid, bungeed onto the rack. I skipped breakfast, and I was eating deserts all afternoon. I didn't have dinner tonight. (Just the beer.)

I had multiple problems with the bike ride home. Headlight #1 (the Cree T6 LED) didn't work. I couldn't find the batteries for headlight #2 (the Remington LED). Headlight #3 (the old 55-watt halogen) did work, but it was getting dim before I was half way home. My favored rear blinkers were also getting weaker. The 4 older blinkers were 1 dead, 2 marginal, and 1 good. There's a 7th rear light, an incandescent on the same battery with the front halogen. I could see either change the brightness of the other. So there's some problem with charging their lead-acid gel cells. Close to home I had problems with both derailleurs. I got the chain back on the sprockets in a higher gear ratio that was comfortable and got home without shifting, walking the bike uphill when necessary.

None of the various flashlights I typically carry was with me either, which made diagnosis and repair more difficult. (With 2 lights on the helmet, it had been a long time since I used a flashlight with the bike.)
I was pretty very cold when I got home, so I'm not looking at the drive train until tomorrow. I pulled out 2 sets of blinker batteries to charge overnight. I opened the headlight battery pack and found a loose wire. I've soldered it back, and the light's working again.Thu, 19 Dec 2013 22:08:30 +0000

People kept saying my brownies were great yesterday. I thought they tasted weird Tuesday night. I thought it was something about the applesauce and fruitiness. I didn't eat anything yesterday morning because I knew I was having a big lunch. I didn't try my brownies again until today, and they are quite good now - all the weirdness is gone. Maybe they needed to cool, or maybe they just needed time. Or maybe there was something uneven in the batter, and I got unrepresentative samples. (But I had bits from different parts of the pan, so that's not so likely.)

I think whatever's left tonight is going home with me, and anniemal and I'll enjoy them this weekend.

The container I carried the brownies in, bungeed to the rack on my bike, has some holes on the top. They let in dirt, sand from the towpath kicked up by the back wheel. There were no browies directly under the holes on the trip in, but I suspect that some of them got an added crunch. There was definitely dirt on the brownies that came back home. ☹
