LED ropes

The solar-powered LED "ropes" arrived today. The batteries are dead (which is to be expected after unknown weeks in boxes), but I've put them out on the deck railing to charge in the sun tomorrow. There is a generous wire from the LEDs to the solar panel, so I think they'll be easy to set up for evening camp lighting at Pennsic. (Not the least bit medieval, but neither are Coleman lanterns.)

They have a 600mAh AA NiMH cell. I don't know where you'd find something like that. My oldest AA NiMH cells, dating back (15 years?) to my first digicam, are 1700mAh; 2200-2400 are what you'd find for sale now. Maybe the 600s are the defective 2400s, and they've found a way to use some factory's scrap. Maybe this is a future use for my own failing cells.
