42nd Street

42nd Street at Wolf Trap Park was terrific tonight. The cast was solid - good voices, and lots of tap dancing. (I thought the tuning of the orchestra suffered a bit at times, but we were outdoors in the DC summer.) There was one big name in the cast - Loretta Swit! She played the faded has-been star, not that she's a has-been.

anniemal was indisposed, so (on very short notice) I took a friend from my choir. I won the tickets at a raffle at my company picnic. (The company has a box - who (among us peons) knew?). There was another employee and his wife there tonight, also picnic-raffle winners. It took a little searching, but we found the Encore Circle (with our complementary beverages) at the intermission, and learned that there would be desserts there for us after the show. (The perqs of corporate sponsorship, apparently.) With a napkin-full of cookies, we got into a discussion about chain mail and medieval times with some other dessert fans.
