101 Ways to Save the Internet, and MemeStreams comments

I have found a few interesting links from MemeStreams.

From Wired, there's 101 Ways to Save the Internet -- partly humorous, partly serious/practical/clever.

Judging from MemeStreams' user list, http://www.memestreams.net/users, there's 830 accounts on the site. (Text browsers are good tools for some kinds of research.) And only 91 of those accounts have made recommendations in the last month. I'm not sure that's critical mass to meet the site's purpose.

Still, even without a critical mass, any group of associates could get themselves accounts, list each other in their circles of friends, and have an effective tool for suggesting links amongst themselves right away. (It sort of smacks of a co-opting, but as their recommendations would also be public to the system, any such groups should help jump-start the service.) As an individual, I should be gradually building links to other users who recommend things I find interesting. This could happen much faster if there were more active accounts and more links being submitted. I've made only 3 recommendations, and 1 (which I found here on LJ) hit the front page. It's flattering, but I wouldn't expect to have that kind of influence yet. (Ooh, ooh, I have an audience of 1 now!)
