The Coursing of the Hounds was scheduled for 10:00-15:00 today. Since everybody was ready but waiting for everybody else to get ready, we didn't get there until 11:00. Because there were very few hounds this year and the day was beastly hot (probably why there were so few hounds), they were done. We missed it.
I went to 3 classes today: How Many Teeth (about medieval knowledge and education) at 12:00, reading an Astrolabe at 13:00 (not enough handouts availble), and the Landsknechten (a "German" military class, and its effects on warfare, fashion, and history) at 14:00. I went back to camp at 15:00 to have lunch and get my music for the Pennsic Choir rehearsal at 16:00. The astrolabe clase wasn't very good, and it would have been better to have gone for lunch at 13:00 and stayed after the Landsknechten class for The Moors at 15:00 with the same teacher (Tempus Perigrinus - he's always good).
Rehearsal was good. I wasn't on site in time for Friday's rehearsal, and I was missed. It's nice to be thought of as a regular (it's only my 4th year), and be missed. Some pieces sounded better than others, but some already sound quite good. There will still be more people joining us in the next few days. (Not everyone is here yet.)
A quick dinner after rehearsal, and then back for Wolgemut's concert. Always good. They have a limited-pressing album of last year's Pennsic concert, and we'll try to get that. (It looked like they recorded tonight's concert too, and they have a couple more concerts next week.)
I wanted to get to bed earlier than this tonight, but our Land Agent seemed to need to talk, so I gave her an ear. She's had a rough year since the last Pennsic, and some of the fallout from that is why our camp has only 6 5 people this year. (But that's another story, and it's not mine to tell.)
I haven't looked at the class schedule for tomorrow yet, so I'll just have to wing it after I get up. I'm not setting an alarm, since I'm still short on sleep. It's been pretty noisy here this evening. A lot of people are here just to party for a week, and there's always the traffic from I-79 in the background. Some of the truckers seem to like blowing their horns or
Jake-braking as they go by.
