They keep saying this like they think we'll believe it.

This from a site that I do visit:Thanks for riding in Cycle September.

For recording more than one ride this month you have unlocked exclusive discounts with our awesome sponsors!

20% discount from Proviz [Proviz makes reflective clothing.]

20% discount off lights from Beryl [Beryl makes lights that also laser-project a bike image on the road.]

10% from Street Team [I don't remember what Street Team sells. I went to their site, and I still don't know what they do. But they have spoke reflectors for about twice Amazon's price.]

25% from Bici by Bar [Bici makes "stylish" bags and panniers. (I don't do "stylish".)]

Free ride with Spinlister [Spinlister lets people rent their (high-end?) bikes to people from out of town.]
Only valid through the month of September and can be used once.
That last one irks me. The email was sent today (Sept 21), but too late to be used today. That leaves it valid for 9 days - not much of a freebie. It's moot, since I don't have any travel planned in what remains of September. (And how many recumbents do they have in that bikeshare?)

As for riding more than once this month, they knew I'd done that by Sept 2nd.

I've checked out most of these vendors before, and found their offerings pricey. They're going to need deeper discounts than that for me to buy.

Hi [name],

You're clocking up the miles* in Cycle September! For riding 300 miles or more you've unlocked an exclusive 20% discount with Climate ride.

The discount can be used on any of their excursions in the US.
Your miles could earn you a spot on Climate Ride California

Your Cycle September miles will also earn entries in the drawing for a spot on Climate Ride California. The more miles you log the more entries you get.

Again, if this is based on mileage, why wasn't this sent sooner? I should be at 500 miles (805km) tomorrow. And if I care about climate change, how and why would I make a frivolous trip to California? I suppose I could bike to/from California, but then the organized ride in California sounds silly. All the links in the email are tracking links (as they were in the earlier email).Climate Ride produces charitable multi-day bike rides, hikes, and a DIY program that inspire advocacy, transform lives, and fund initiatives critical to a sustainable future.
Started as a five-day bike ride from NYC to DC in 2008, Climate Ride has grown into an idea catalyst and leading supporter of the environmental and active transportation movement. We now have cycling and hiking events around the world helping to mobilize people to protect the planet.

*Clocks don't measure miles.
