I find odd things lost in the streets. Today's find set the bar higher: a controller for watering lawns/gardens. One hose connection in; two out, with independent settings. Uses 4 AA cells. The cover for the battery compartment was lost. (Duct tape may suffice to replace it.)
It would be nice to reunite some of these lost things with their owners. But if something falls off/out while you're driving, will you have any idea where it is? If I leave things in the road, they're likely to get destroyed. (And possibly damage other vehicles - I picked up a beer bottle from the street at my corner before I left for work.) I did get 2 cell phones back to their owners. But most items don't have anything for tracking to an owner.

I found some photos on-line. The unit I found is the Vigoro brand, but it appears identical to this Melnor. (The captions and Amazon links with the Melnor photo say "Vigoro".) The clear plastic lid is missing from the one I found, but the lid might have been gone before the timer was lost. This timer no longer seems to be on the market. Newer devices tend to have digital displays.

The sign I put on the Chain-Bridge ramp for the Serfas bike headlight
I found in March was gone today. It survived amazingly long for a piece of paper and scotch tape. Yesterday there was only 1 phone-number tear-off left on it. I left it up so long because there's still been no calls about anyone losing the light. Quite possibly the person who lost it (near the Arizona Avenue trestle over the canal) doesn't take Chain Bridge, but someone kept removing the signs I put up near where I found the light. ☹

I took a break from vacuuming and opened the front door for a look out. There was a rabbit in the yard, munching away. It didn't run away. There's also a storm door, and there may have been some glare or a reflection, but I must have been visible.
