The new mower did the whole yard on the one battery, with 10%-25% charge still left. (0-4 LEDs is not precise. If people weren't averse to thinking, 4 LEDs could represent 16 ranges, not just 5.) So there's no pressing need for a 2nd battery. If I use the mower to mulch leaves I will certainly want more run time, but if that's the only reason for a 2nd battery I think I can just take a recharging break.
anniemal is done with the
plantain patch, so that added a bit to the area mowed, and it was high from not being mowed all summer. And I set the cutting height (for the whole yard) a little lower than last week. I needed to use a bungee to hold the (folded) handle with the mower stored vertical - either that, or shift the cut height to the minimum, because the adjustment handle and the folded mowing handle want to occupy the same space.
The clippings bag fills up faster than I expect; it's smaller than the old mower's. And I'm not (yet) able to sense when it's full; I could tell with the B&D.
Negotiating the 20" (50cm) retaining wall with the front wheels up (instead of the rear, for the B&D) turns out to be very easy. The lighter weight is probably a factor. And I think the new mower is a bit narrower, which accounts for squeezing through that corner (that the B&D couldn't) in the front yard. (Lighter weight would help in any kind of manouver.)
