7/11/2005 - Feature - Libertyville Abortion Demonstration [RealPlayer video]
Anti-abortion protesters are asked "What should the punishment be for a woman who has an illegal abortion?" These protesters have never even thought about the woman. Yeah folks, take a stand on an issue - maybe even kill for your cause - but don't give any thought to the key person involved....
It seems that they don't want to punish the women who have illegal abortions, which seems inconsistent with making abortions illegal/criminal. Somehow it's OK for us to make it a crime, and then leave the punishment to God at the day of reckoning. I'm sorry people, but if you don't think it's your place to punish someone for it, how can it be your place to decide that it's criminal? And if you don't want to punish the women, how can it be OK to punish (and even kill) the doctors?
You really see the disconnect between belief and rational thought when some of these women
have abortions themselves and still maintain that abortions should not be safe, legal, and available. (I am not trivializing people's beliefs - if they've thought them through, and can support them with intellectual integrity.)
