Thank god! Made it through another five days of the warehoue grind. It was chaos all week, and yesterday I made it clear that the conditions we were struggling to work in had deteriorated to the point that I could not perform my tasks properly. Today was strangely sane, so hopefully I got someone's attention. It caused me stress overnight and another morning of wishing I could quit. It always seems to get to this point sooner or later. On the upside, I qualify for paid leave next week, and will be taking nine days off. Yeehaw! That makes me smile. It's been an entire year, with only one (well not even, I left early) day missed.
Near the end of my holiday the VIFF starts up, and I've already worked out my schedule and purchased advance tickets. It's damn exciting, I must admit. On the menu are: the new Aronofsky film, called The Fountain; everything's Gone Green, screenplay by Douglas Coopeland; Monkey Warfare, with Don McKellar in the lead; Shortbus, with Sook-Yin-Lee and featuring some graphic sex apparently. It's been years since I really got it together to attend this event properly. I think it was 1998 or so when I last saw a string of movies during the festival.
I was asked to travel up to Blackwater (Mount Currie) by a friend this weekend, but it's been so chilly overnight that I decided not to risk the discomfort of being cold and wet, and possibly confined due to rain. It's a wonderful place to visit, but the conditions really have to be conducive to a certain level of comfort, or it isn't really worth it to me. I'm not very hardy when it comes to the outdoors. Staying home may be a bit lame, but after a long and challenging week at work, I know I need to just chill, and for that to happen, I need my food and shelter all sorted, as well as my toys and medicine.
