YAY OBAMA!
This being the first election that I actually cared about I had a lot of strong feelings. I believe that progress is important and that the way our lives were at this point in time was not where we, as a nation, were meant to be. I think that Barack Obama will really work well with the rest of the government to instigate change and help to move the country in a new direction. I was both nervous and excited last night as the votes were coming in from California, which held an impressive 55 electoral votes. I think it is important to at least be informed and have an opinion regarding the state of the country, even if it differs from mine. I was just impressed that we have come such a far distance in our society. This was truly a historic victory, as the papers claim, and I'm impressed.
The speeches were interesting too. I think McCain delivered a very nice, respectful speech and he really stepped down honorably. And of course Obama's speech was great, and focused on the future and those who support him. It was a good thing to watch.
Congratulations Obama!
