Wow. The Working Week really cannonballed through quickly. I suppose that is nature of things when I am keeping myself busy at work and at the gym afterwards. Last night was quaint--
nordic_thora, her brother (who was in town this week), and I had delicious, casual pasta dinner at
Pastini Pastaria on NW 23rd. The vegetarian ziti was refreshing and filling. It was so good to socialize and to explore someplace new. The best part of the dining experience that evening was that 15% of the proceeds from the bill went to support
Basic Rights Oregon. It felt good to dine out for a good cause. Earlier in the evening, I scored some cherries from the Portland Farmers Market at Ecotrust Building in the Pearl.
I managed to stay under my self-imposed tight budget during the past week. I shall now attempt to do the same for the upcoming week. The big-ticket item for this upcoming week is getting a haircut. I think I may do away with my 80s-style bangs, since they tend to get in my face while I work out at the gym.
The tentative plans for the next few days are as follows:
Tonight: Work out, practice piano.
Saturday: (Maybe) visit the Portland Farmers Market at PSU in the morning, go for a leisurely bicycle ride late in the morning, check out the
Multnomah County Bike Fair early in the afternoon, procure kitty litter, purchase groceries, score toilet tank handle (v2.0), attend a solstice weekend party in Beaverton (hosted by very awesome friends), and go to a party. Rock Star Saturday is in the house!
Sunday: Practice piano, work out, (maybe) get my hair cut, attend a baby shower gathering.
Monday: Practice piano, work, check out the
Body Worlds 3 exhibit at OMSI (using my complimentary employee coupon for admission--which saves me $23!) after work.
Tuesday: Practice piano, work, work out.
Wednesday: Practice piano, work (potluck for former manager), attend work happy hour after work.
Beginning in August, my work shift hours are scheduled to change. Instead of the current 9:45 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. weekday schedule, the senior boss would like to see my hours shifted to 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., or perhaps earlier. Drats. I am not an early morning person, so this may pose a challenge. I will work on shifting my internal clock, although it will be a huge challenge after decades of living nocturnally.
However, I did realize couple of potential benefits of starting my work days earlier:
1. If there are group exercise classes of interest at March Wellness which start at 5:30 p.m. or 6:30 p.m., I will now have an opportunity to participate in them.
2. The world of weekday happy hours is going to be open for me to explore! This is exciting!
3. I can get some early-evening bicycle ride sessions in before the days start getting shorter.
The Working Week ends in 20 minutes. And...Go!
