You know how, when you pour soda pop out of a bottle, if you tilt it too much the air starts burping in because the soda is filling the entire opening of the botle? It's really annoying! Well, I realized that it does that because when the soda pours out, there's more space for air inside the bottle that needs to be filled, since liquid doesn't expand. So, says I, if the problem is excess airspace, what if I.... squeeze the bottle? If I gradually compress the bottle, reducing the interior volume at the SAME RATE that the soda is leaving, there'll be no excess air space to fill and I'll be able to pour rapidly without annoying air burps! Ingenious!
So, pouring myself a cup of Mountain Dew from a 2-liter bottle, I've been trying to get a feel for how rapidly the bottle should be compressed to make my idea work. Still haven't quite gotten gotten the hang of it, but I have managed about 2.5 seconds of continuous stream without any air entering the bottle! Am I cool, or what?
...dear gods, I'm such a dork. XD
