Writing and music

So I'm writing lyrics again. Which is really cool except that:
a) I tend to write only when life's stressful or I'm depressed (usually more of the latter)
b) I can't write sheet music, so remembering/maintaining the melody is harder than hell. I was looking at my old songs, and I can only sing about half of them.I hope to god the crap vocal recordings I have of them are still saved on tape somewhere (and not demagnetized). It would suck to reduce them to mediocre poetry (lyrics and poetry follow some pretty different construction rules, generally). What I need is some software that can take my voice and render it to a simple note sequence. And musician friends - preferably with a contract deal and looking for a lyricist. Whatever.

Still, it's pretty cool that I sat down and wrote an entire song in one short, late, late evening (being laden with cough meds and alcohol probably helped a bit). Nice to know it's still in me somewhere, even if it's dark, angry and depressed.
