It has changed my attitude toward celebrities, or at least the ones I'm stalking following on Twitter. They really are almost sorta just normal people with abnormal jobs.
Case in point: If His Cuteness and I were sent to Washington DC for a brief assignment, we would probably take pictures of each other squinting into the sun in front of some monument or other.
Joe Mantegna and Gary Sinise co-host the Memorial Day concert on the Mall in DC. And what did they do on Twitter? Posted pictures of each other squinting into the sun in front of local landmarks. And, no, they weren't trying to be ironic. It was just what friends do.
And further:
First day on the job? The new TV season started filming last week. Dozens of actors posted candids of their fellow cast members just standing around, arms around each other like a pic you take of your friend at the office. No makeup, no costumes. No particular photographic skill. Just a couple or a few buddies from work, celebrating their reunion.
This weekend, the pictures are simply rolling in from the San Diego Comic Con. Celebrities take the same kinds of pic for the same reasons we do. Hey, look at the crowds! Look at the booths! Hey, look, there's so-and-so!
And then there are those unexpected assets. Never would it have occurred to me that Adam (Jayne Cobb) Baldwin might be a passionate and persuasive author of political columns. Well, he is. Also one sharp word-gamer.
Among those who have posted normal-people quality photos of their dogs: Mariah Carey, Ice-T, Thomas Gibson, Julie Benz, Stephen Collins.
Twitter is a help to them, too. I know I'm not the only stalker follower who has tuned in to TV shows just because someone whose posts I like has been talking about the production.
I haven't even scratched the surface of what I have learned the past three months.
I am soooooooo addicted!
